SCA Roasting Foundation

This course is excellent for anyone looking to understand the basics of the roasting process and explore coffee roasted to different levels.

This can be taken in person or as a distance learning course. To participate from a distance, you will need access to good working internet and a laptop or tablet. Coffee brewing equipment is also necessary to participate in the tasting exercises. Use your own or we can provide equipment options at a small additional cost.

In this course we will discuss:

1.     Roaster Basics - methods and types of roasters

2.     Roasting Process - physical changes, creating and using a roast profile, stages of roast and the impact on taste and aroma, and logging a roast

3.     Safety and Maintenance - cleaning, maintenance, and roaster safety.

Course Fees: $400 includes instruction, coffee supplies, digital or printed course materials, and shipping within the USA. SCA Certificate available for an additional $50 certificate fee.
