Introduction to Coffee
This distance-learning course is great for anyone looking to expand their understanding of coffee. Persons new to the coffee industry, fans of drinking coffee, salespersons and more.
The course involves 3.5 hours of online lecture and activities with an additional 30 minutes for online testing (test for certificate only).
In this course we will discuss:
Coffee Knowledge - where coffee comes from and conditions it needs to grow
Roasting - the basics of the process
Freshness - packaging and storage
Sensory - evaluating brewed coffee and what effects the final cup
Brewing - brewing methods and how they impact the final cup with appropriate exercise
Water - the importance of water in the brewing process
Cleaning and Maintenance - how to care for your equipment
Good working internet and a laptop will be needed. At least 1 brewing device will be needed. We can provide one at cost on request.
Course fee is $200 with an optional SCA certificate for $50. Includes guided notes, digital or printed content, roasted coffee supplies, and optional brewing equipment. Bundle with any other course to save 15%. We can work with you budget, just email us and we can figure out something that works for you.
