SCA Coffee Roasting Foundations
FOUNDATION
This Specialty Coffee Association course is excellent for anyone looking to understand the roasting process and explore coffee roasted to different levels.
This is a distance learning course. To participate you will need access to good working internet and a laptop or tablet. Coffee brewing equipment is also necessary to participate in the tasting exercises. Use your own or we can provide equipment options at a small additional cost.
In this course we will discuss:
1. Roaster Basics - methods and types of roasters
2. Roasting Process - physical changes, creating and using a roast profile, stages of roast and the impact on taste and aroma, and logging a roast
3. Safety and Maintenance - cleaning, maintenance, and roaster safety
Course Fees: $350 includes instruction, coffee tasting, and digital or printed course materials. Specialty Coffee Association certificate available for an additional $50 certificate fee. This course can be bundled with any of our other courses for a 15% discount - just contact t@colabops.com
