the Adventurer explores... Ethiopia - Sidamo Shantawene
light roast - dry/natural process - 222 grams
Sometime around 800 AD a fellow wanderer stumbled upon a bush full of magic cherries that made everything
a little more exciting. This man, the Goat Herder Kaldi, was the butterfly effecter that would eventually help caffeinate
the entire world.
The ritual behind which our industry is based is truly still intact in this crop's mother land. Known as "The coffee ceremony", it is performed by a host who roasts and brews coffee over the same fire and creates a welcome environment for both caffeination and conversation. The Farmers of the Sidamo region still drink the brew this way to this day to fuel their diligent work, they also undoubtedly have some of the longest connections to the crop, meticulously maintaining the heirloom varietals that inhabit the mountainous terrain of the region.
The Shantawene washing stations serves as a hub for farmers to deliver the fruits of their labor and there they transform the cherries into exportable green flavor gems. Ethiopian coffee exhibits some of the most vibrant and nuanced flavors in the world and our Professor theorizes that a large part of this is due to the true original soil the plants hail from and the people of this land having the longest known history of cultivation.
Perform your own coffee ceremony with reverence to the people and places from which your coffee comes and share these vibrant notes with family and friends in this realm and beyond.
