Q Project Thailand -

Leading courses with coffee farmers to share Quality Evaluation experience, improving the value of Thai coffee, primarily domestically. Connecting markets in the US, EU, Korea, Japan, and Taiwan to Thai coffee and representing coffees from project farmers at tradeshows including the SCA Expo, World of Coffee, and Thailand Coffee Fest.

In this project CoLabOps fostered the connection between the Coffee Quality Institute (CQI) and the strategic consulting firm Bolliger and Co. to create this long-term enterprise.

Support by strengthening Thailand coffee stakeholders through delivery of CQI Courses - Understanding Tastes and Flavors, Introduction to CQI Cupping, Quality Cupping Essentials and a Q Arabica and Robusta Combo Course. Leading national coffee competition. Hosting pop-up and events to support the coffee industry.

Organizing public cuppings for this long- time coffee supplier of Stevyn’s.

The concept and mission for Benchmark is to represent the estates’ top grades, connect roasters with production, and to act as a true sourcing partner for our relationship green coffee beans.

Long term project working to evaluate green coffee quality year after year and note sensorial changes while providing suggestions for possible improvements.

Singingrooster.org is a social enterprise nonprofit working shoulder to shoulder with small coffee and cacao producers in Haiti. They’ve raised yields, created jobs, and improved cupping scores considerably. We’ve also developed years-long relationships with metal artists in Croix des Bouquets. They are a member of the Fair Trade Federation but bigger than #fairtrade or direct trade coffee; they have built inroads to international markets on behalf of farmers for over a decade.

Hosted a public cupping to introduce HCA coffees to the greater Detroit area. Long time coffee supplier for Stevyn’s green buying role.

The social enterprise, Honduran Coffee Alliance (HCA), works with coffee producers and their cooperatives to source, market, sell and export quality coffee directly to international buyers, thus ensuring a fair and sustainable income for the producer and a competitive price and unique coffee for the buyer.

Philippines -

Leading 7 courses with the entire supply chain from farmers to barista to share Quality Evaluation experience, improving the value of Philippine coffee domestically and for export

This project was in support of ACDI/VOCA and the Philippine Coffee Advancement and Farm Enterprise (PhilCAFE), working with CQI to promote state of the art coffee practices and standards and provide technical guidance on coffee training and technical material.

Support by strengthening of Philippine coffee stakeholders through delivery of CQI Courses - Understanding Tastes and Flavors, Introduction to CQI Cupping, Quality Cupping Essentials and Q Robusta Calibrations.

Laos -

This CQI Project is in collaboration with Winrock International as part of the Creating Linkages for Expanded Agricultural Networks (CLEAN) project supported by the USDA and Lao PDR. We partnered with Lao Coffee Association and Lao Coffee Lovers to organize the first CQI courses to ever be taught in Lao.

Leading 3 courses over 6 days with 60+ attendees across the supply chain introducing Coffee Quality Institute’s Quality Evaluation methods, improving the quality of coffee production and establishing Q-Venue lab certification.

Ethiopia

— Lab Inspections - review of multiple labs with reports for grant-funded improvements to create working Q Venues. Assistant Instructor for Q Arabica Combo course with 24 attendees.

Working with USAID’s Feed the Future Ethiopia (FTFE) Value Chain Activity, part of the U.S. Government’s Feed the Future Initiative and the Government of Ethiopia’s Agricultural Growth Program (AGP 2).

Keurig Dr. Pepper

3-year project to provide a foundational level of coffee knowledge to the Keurig sales team and support staff.

This ongoing project involved over 300 Keurig sales and support staff. CoLabOps held in-person and online events across the US to train and certify KDP staff through the Specialty Coffee Association Coffee Skills Program.
